How to decorate my house using both modern and classic combination?
I like to decorate my house using combination of modern and classic design. I was thinking of using modern ferniture with antiques, persian rugs, old lamps....
I like something realy unique. Any ideas how to make this combination nice?
To achieve this look you have to pick each piece carefully. Look for similar lines or curves, as well as colours that are harmonious. Modern furniture often compliments antique wrought iron pieces quite nicely, or Art Deco era items. So, if your sofa has a very square design to it, keep to antiques that also have straight lines and less ornamentation. Try to play up the materials (wood, metal, etc) more so than ornamentation -- it rarely makes sense to see ornately carved motifs and patterns too close to a modern piece whose beauty comes from its simplicity.
This is a bit of a fussy blend in styles, so you might want to spend time looking through books and magazines for some ideas. Good luck.
